Broussard - Jimmy “Jim” C. Howard, age 74, who passed away peacefully at The Carpenter House on Monday, October 2, 2023, in Lafayette. Jimmy “Jim” C. Howard was born on April 25, 1949, in Corpus Christi, TX and he was a longtime resident of Acadiana. Jim was an avid runner, animal and nature lover, and family man with a strong faith. He competed in countless races during his lifetime, and found solace in daily runs. Jim grew up in an area surrounded by water, so it was only natural that he became an avid fisherman, eager to guide his daughter and grandson in developing the skill and love of the outdoors. He grew up in a home with country music, and enjoyed tinkering on the guitar and electric keyboard. He was a deeply sentimental and expressive man who took pleasure in leaving handwritten notes and poetry for those he loved. Jim was centered in his faith and ended each day reading scripture passages. To say he was loved is an understatement. Those who truly knew him felt his deep and never-ending affection. He will be missed by his humans and fur babies alike. Jim, rest in peace knowing you are loved and your presence is always felt! Jim is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Kathy S. Howard; his daughter, Kyla G. Ellender (Tim); his grandson, MacKinley S. Ellender; along with a host of dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sallie Jo Howard and James Howard. The family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Jason Cormier, Jacqueline Deshotels, Kayla Trahan, Rachel Goldman, Nicholaus Barber, the entire Carpenter House staff, and all of our family and friends who showed unwavering support, love, and compassion.
