James "Jimmy" Patrick Duhon

Maurice - A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, at 6:00 pm at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice for James Patrick Duhon, age 47, who passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2024. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, between 3:00 pm and 6:00 pm in the Chapel of Cypress Funeral Home. James was born on April 30, 1976, in Lafayette, Louisiana. He grew up with a love for dance and tap at his mother's dance studio, "Dance With Liz". He graduated from Westminster Christian High School; and went on to serve in the United States Air Force. During his time in the military, he was stationed at Keesler Airforce Base in Biloxi, Mississippi. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Air Force he moved to Ruston, Louisiana where he attended LA Tech earning a Bachelor's degree in Finance. James loved cooking. It was one of his favorite pastimes, particularly making gumbo with a homemade dark roux. He took great pride in his crawfish boils and would always welcome his family and friends to "pass by" and share his joy. He was a music lover, he had hundreds of digital albums and songs of every type of genre. He liked blues and soul, especially Ray Charles. He had an extensive knowledge of music and movie trivia and liked to share it with all who would listen, especially with his sister, Terri. He enjoyed sunrises and sunsets with his wife, Maura. Jimmy had an infectious smile with a bigger-than-life personality. He was a likable guy who will be remembered for his easy like Sunday morning way about him. He was loved by many and he will be dearly missed. James is survived by his loving wife, Maura Foret Duhon; his sister, Terri Duhon and her husband, Matthew Peacock of London, England; his niece and nephews, Aspen Peacock, Sebastian Peacock, and Hunter Peacock; his aunts and uncles, Lynn Duhon and his wife Dr. Chantal Saucier of Maurice, Terry Barber and his spouse Patsy of Maurice, Evelyn Barber of Georgia, Janice Barber (Warren) of Lafayette; his cousins, Abbi Lynn Duhon, Karima Duhon, Lori Barber Carver, Heather Barber Wilkes, Jenny Kay Barber Valois, Patrick Barber, and Nick Barber; as well as a host extended family members and friends. James was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Elizabeth Ann Barber Duhon, his father, Harold "Jim" James Duhon; his uncle, David Patrick Barber; first cousin and dear friend, Yancy Duhon; as well as his grandparents, Patrick and Mary Barber, and Clovis and Lucille Duhon. Honorary Pallbearers will be his niece and nephews Aspen Peacock, Sebastian Peacock, and Hunter Peacock. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W. Lafayette St., Maurice, LA 70555.
