Herbert Noel Penouilh

Lafayette - A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 11:00 am in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 610 Rain Tree Trail, Lafayette, LA 70507, in Lafayette for Herbert Noel Penouilh, age 64, who passed away Friday, November 10, 2023, in Carencro, LA. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, from 10:00 am until the service time in St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Reception will follow at the St. Elizabeth Seton Family Center. Herbert Noel Penouilh was born on September 29, 1959, in Baton Rouge and he was a resident of Lafayette. He absolutely loved life and his daughter, Alexis. She was the apple of his eye and they were very close. Noel was always excited and happy when she visited with him. He was really talented mechanically, athletically, and especially musically. Whatever his work or interest, he read, studied, and practiced so that he knew as much as he could about the subject. Noel worked as a boat mechanic for many years and was an exceptional lead guitarist. He liked and could play almost any genre of music, but playing and singing the Blues was a favorite. Noel really enjoyed and looked forward to the jazz sessions with his brother, Gary on the saxophone and he on guitar. He also enjoyed his weekly sessions with fellow guitarist Pete Cormier. They played a variety of styles of music. Sometimes in the afternoon he would play guitar and his sister would sing. Noel enjoyed people and had a number of long-term friendships that were important to him. Noel will be dearly missed. Noel is survived by his daughter, Alexis Penouilh; his siblings, Carol Sanderlin, Gary Penouilh and his wife, Susan, and their daughters, Jacquelyn and Jessica; along with a host of dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Herbert A. “Pete” Penouilh and Shirley B. Penouilh. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Pete and Claudia Cormier, Faye Blankenship, Mary and Danny Chachere, as well as Sarah, Liz, and the staff of Hospice Compassus.
