Harold "Jim" Duhon

Maurice - A Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, at 11:30 AM at Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery in Lafayette for Harold "Jim" Duhon, age 78, who passed away on Sunday, February 25, 2024, at his residence in Maurice. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Cypress Funeral Home Chapel, with a Eulogy at 6:00 PM. Visitation hours will continue the following morning on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 9:00AM until 11:00 AM. Jim was born on October 25, 1945 in Abbeville, Louisiana and he was a life long resident of South Louisiana. He was a Graduate of Lafayette High School Class of 1964. Jim was a veteran of the United States Airforce having served in Greenland during the Vietnam Era. After returning home from the service he worked in the Oil and Gas Drilling Industry as a Mud Engineer / Consultant. He was an avid reader and a lifelong fan of College and Pro Football. More than anything Jim was a loving father and grandfather. In his later years he enjoyed traveling both at home and abroad to spend time with his children and grandchildren. Jim or "Pappa Jim" as he was affectionately known, also loved to play cards, especially with his grandkids. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Jim is survived by his daughter, Terri Lynn Duhon and her husband Matthew Peacock of London; his son, James Patrick Duhon, and his wife Maura of Maurice; his three beloved grandchildren of London, Sebastian Peacock, Hunter Peacock, and Aspen Peacock; his brother, Lynn Duhon and his wife Dr. Chantal Saucier of Maurice; his aunt and uncles, Jane Broussard, Harry Broussard, and Paul Duhon; his nieces and nephews; Abbi Lynn Duhon, Karima Duhon, Lori Barber Carver, Heather Barber Wilkes, Jenny Kay Barber Valois, Patrick Barber, and Nick Barber; as well as a host of cousins and extended family members. He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Elizabeth Ann Barber Duhon; his parents, Clovis and Lucille Duhon; his nephew Yancy Duhon; as well as his In-Laws, Mary and Pat Barber. Pallbearers will be: Matthew Peacock, Sebastian Peacock, Hunter Peacock, Aspen Peacock, Kieth Barrilleaux, and Aiden Valois. Interment will be held at Lafayette Memorial Park in Lafayette, Louisiana. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you their dear friend Wendy Barrilleaux for looking after him so well; as well Dr. Tommy Votier, Seniors Helpers, and the Nurses and Staff of Lamm Hospice for the loving care and compassion they provided Jim in his time of need.
