Florence Guillory Semien

Maurice - A Liturgy of the Word will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Cypress Funeral Home for Florence Guillory Semien, 74, of Lafayette LA, who died on July 24, 2025, at The Calcutta House (Hospice of Acadiana). Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until service time on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Cypress Funeral Home. She was born on January 7, 1951, in Mamou, LA, the daughter of Gloris Gradney Guillory and Alfred Joseph Guillory Sr. Florence received her high school diploma from Carter G Woodson High School and later attended T.H. Harris Trade School for Diesel Mechanics. She was a "do it yourself" kind of woman. She also received her Certified Nursing Assistant Certification and served others for many years. Many times, she held two jobs at once just to put food on the table for her kids. She married Morris Guillory Sr and bore 4 children (Divorced). She later married Paul Winroe Semien, the love of her life, in January 1996. Florence is survived by her husband, Paul; and her 4 children, Jannet (Edward) Wielenga of Wallis, TX, Demesa (Hector) Beltran of Lafayette, LA, Casandria Guillory of Seattle, WA, Morris Guillory of Duson, LA, and Christopher Semien of Lafayette, LA; 11 grandchildren: Morgin (Jaime) Dominic, Nia Auguste, Thaddeus Guillory, Mateo Beltran, Isabella Beltran, Brandon (Analise) Guillory, Tyler Guillory, Brooke Guillory, Gannon Gaudet, and Gabriel Guillory; great-grandchildren: Annabelle Wielenga, Skielar Dominic, Charlee, Dominic, Willow Guillory, Yates Guillory, Lakyn Guillory, Oaklee Guillory, Isabella Adams, Bentlee Cabrol, and Kohen Credeur; siblings: Emery (Sharon) Guillory, Ruth (Michael) Halsey, Larry Guillory, Barbara (Ronald) Harris, Claude Guillory, Alfred (Brenda) Guillory, Jeffery (Lisa) Guillory, David Guillory, and Sandra Guillory. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gloris and Alfred Guillory Sr.; brothers: Dillard Delafosse and Anthony Guillory; sister, JoAnn Lima; grandson, Michael Arlan Wielenga, and niece, Olivia Battle. The family of Florence would like to recognize the great work of the staff at Pelican Pointe Rehabilitation and Nursing for the excellent care they have provided over the last year and a half of her life, especially in her finals days and would also like to acknowledge Hospice of Acadiana and the Calcutta House for their excellent care and empathy for the family during this very difficult time.
