Dorothy "Dottie" Robicheaux Thompson

Lafayette - It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy “Dottie” Robicheaux Thompson announce her passing on March 16 at her residence in Lafayette, at the age of 94. A Liturgy of the Word service will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 1:00 PM, in the Chapel of Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice. Deacon Cody Miller of Milton will officate the service. Visiation will be held on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, from 10:00 Am until the time of service at Cypress Funeral Home. Born in New Orleans on October 17, 1930 to James T Robicheaux and Leona Ruiz Robicheaux. She lived in Harvey, La until 1949 when she married her husband, the late William K. Thompson. She raised her family in Morgan City LA, eventually moving to Lafayette, where she became a cherished member of her “Sandest Street” neighborhood, and where she would eventually say her goodbyes. You could find her playing Bingo at the Council on aging in Broussard, where Bit Quenn always made sure Dottie was taken care of, or playing Mexican train with her dear neighbors, or swinging a golf club on her putting green at home. Dottie enjoyed golf, either playing or watching it on TV. She was an avid Saints and LSU fan and spent many afternoons enthusiastically cheering them on. One of Dottie’s most treasured experiences was revisiting the beach with Carmen Freia, Estelle Leech and Claire Giordano a couple of years ago. They helped her fulfill the wish of feeling the ocean’s embrace once more, a moment that encapsulated her love for life’s simple pleasures. She is survived by her daughter, Jean Daigle, and her husband, Jerry; her son, David J. Thompson and his wife, Yvette; and her daughter in law, Karlyn R. Thompson. Dottie’s legacy continues through her grandchildren, who called her “Dots”, Shannon D’Gerolamo, Heather Frught, Brennan Thompson, Colden Thompson, and Alex Bergeron and her husband Austin, as well as her great-grandchildren, Barrett Bergeron and one eagerly awaited great-grandchild due on April 1st. Dottie’s warmth extended beyond her immediate family to her special friend, Carmen Freia, who provided her with exceptional care and companionship over the years. Her very special nephew, Milton Clark, also held a dear place in her heart, sharing countless cherished moments that will be remembered fondly. Dottie was proceeded in death by her parents and siblings Dolores Clark, Melvin Robicheaux & Robert Robicheaux. One Son, William “Billy” J. Thompson, and the father of her children, William K Thompson. The family would like to thank her neighbors, Jeanette Smith, Jody Jacobs, Robert & Bobby Landry, Saundra Landry and Joe and Mel Weldon whom were more like family to Dottie. Dottie’s kindness and joyful spirit will be deeply missed but never forgotten. We love you Dots! Honored to serve, as Pallbearers are Brennen Thompson, Colden Thompson, Austin Bergeron, Tony Freia, Milton Clark and Ted Bergeron. Private entombment services will take place in the mausoleum of the Morgan City Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W.
