Scott- A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette for Donald James Goulas, 73, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at his residence in Scott, surrounded by his family and friends. Donald was born on November 30, 1947 in Lafayette, Louisiana and he was a lifelong resident of Lafayette parish. He was a graduate of North Side High School, and went on to serve his Country in the US Army. During his time in the Army, he served in Vietnam. After returning from Vietnam Donald continued the path of public service, becoming a Professional Firefighter. He later retired with the Lafayette Fire Department after many years of faithful service. Away from work Donald was a beloved father, grandfather, and brother, as well as a dear friend to many. His great grandchildren loved to call him “PAW”. Donald will be remembered as a dedicated and honorable man who had a heart for serving his country and his community throughout his life. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Donald is survived by his children, Lori Short (James) of Lafayette, Jason Goulas (Jackie) of Carencro, Cathy Clause (Chuck) of Scott, Deborah Touchet of Arnaudville, and Junior Touchet (Beth) of Lafayette; his grandchildren, Brent Short, Tre Short, William Short, Jacob Goulas, Dustin Clause, Hayden Clause, Lauren Pontiff, Dylan Pontiff, Emily Mackey, Alivia Touchet, Lillie Touchet, Faylee Touchet, Spencer Comeaux, and Bryleigh Meaux; his 11 great grandchildren; his siblings, Charles Goulas of California, Gloria “Sue” Lanerie of Lafayette, and Brenda Bonin of Scott; along with a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rena Goulas; his parents, Euphis and Solita Goulas; his brother, Raymond Goulas; and his sisters, Mary Jane Kidder and Helen Trahan. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in memory of Mr. Donald Goulas to Community Hospice in Lafayette. A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Goulas family to Community Hospice along with their nurses and staff; his hospice nurse Karen Stelly; his beloved sister Brenda Bonin; and his dear friend Cindy Brasseaux, thank all of you for being with Donald in his deepest hour of need.
