Donald Dane Dubois

Meaux - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice, Louisiana for Donald Dane Dubois, age 71, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at his residence. The Rev. Paul Bienvenue, pastor of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice, will officiate at the services. Visitation will be held from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice. There will be a Rosary at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Donald Dane Dubois was born on June 24, 1952, in Abbeville, Louisiana, and was a life long resident of Vermilion Parish. From an early age, Donald's life revolved around sports. From playing to coaching to being a dedicated fan, he always could be found at a park or a gym. After being a high school athlete, he continued his love for sports by coaching his children, grandchildren and countless youth athletes in our community in both baseball and basketball. During this time, he not only taught the fundamentals, he instilled life lessons and values that many players continue to use in their every day life. During his last years, he followed his grandchildren from game to game, city to city and was their biggest fan and supporter. Donald was a founding member of the North Vermilion Youth Athletic Association where he became the first president of the organization. A few years later, he was elected as president of the North Vermilion High School Booster Club where he held that position for multiple years. Donald worked for the Vermilion Parish Sheriffs Office where he retired after 23 years of service. After retirement, he was drawn back to the ball park where he became the grounds keeper at NVYAA until his passing. Donald was also an avid card player and loved family game nights playing dominos. He also enjoyed going to casinos, going on trail rides and dancing with his wife Jody. He was loved by everyone who met him and will be dearly missed. Donald is survived by his wife Jody Patchen Dubois of Meaux; his children, Dana Dubois Bertrand (Jared) of Abbeville, Tory Dubois (Sheri) of Maurice, Jerrod Faulk of Baton Rouge, Step children Lisa Hagan, Dawn Agilar (Tony), Courtney Hulin (Todd), Robin Girouard; his grandchildren, Mallory Lastrapes, Blake Lastrapes, Madison Bertrand, Olivia Bertrand, Sadie Bertrand, Rhyan Dubois, Reese Broussard, Reagan Broussard, Damian Miguez, Dillon Miguez, Kurt Petitjean, Hanna Petitjean, Martin Petitjean, Danae' Auzenne, Trey Agilar, Ty Agilar, Alaina Hulin Gossen, Hunter Girouard, and Hayden Girouard; 9 great grandchildren; his siblings, Daryl Dubois (Donna) of Maurice, Leta Dubois Landry (Louis) of Meaux; as well as his 5 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alton Dubois and Mary Grace Faulk Dubois; and his son, Ryan Dubois. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W. Lafayette St., Maurice, LA 70555.
