Leroy - A memorial service will be held on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at 4:00 PM at the Downtown Convention Center in Lafayette for Debra, also know as "Sue", "Granny", or "Darlin’" Pere', who passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025 in Lafayette. Brother Bob Trahan and Brother Chad Davis will be the officiants for the service. Debra was born on March 17, 1957 in Ville Platte and she was a resident of Leroy. Debra was a kind and loving person. Everyone who met her knew instantly that she was special. She would lend a helping hand to anyone who was in need. Everyone she talked to knew how much she loved Jehovah, her physical family and also her spiritual family. She enjoyed weekend trips with friends, cooking family favorites like spaghetti, granny cakes, shrimp and egg gumbo, and limb growing homemade soup. She loved daily zoom meetings with friends for encouragement. She loved Dairy Queen dipped cones, dark chocolate, salt, gardening, and taking care of Ronnie… Especially the time he unknowingly ordered a large margarita. She never shook her finger and said “I told you so.” Debra loved her family, especially her grandchildren. Granny sleepovers included games, movies, popcorn, hot chocolate, spaghetti, granny cakes, and visits to Candyland Cottage. She was always there for grandparents day, awards, ceremonies, dance revues, and sports games. Debra dedicated her life and then was baptized as a Jehovah Witness in 2012. She was a regular Pioneer and was very dedicated to her full time ministry. One of her greatest joys was having bible studies and making disciples. Debra and her husband loved attending assemblies and conventions and meeting/making new friends. A special memory of Ronnie’s is when they were able to give real life experiences that encouraged all the friends. Debra and Ronnie enjoyed witnessing in unassigned territories, they also got great joy in hosting for hospitality and delivering food provisions to the friends for disaster relief from hurricanes and Covid. Debra is survived by her husband of 22 years, Ronnie Pere’; her children, Allison Donner (Michael) of Maurice, Ryan Pere’ (Ashley) of Maurice, Jennifer Webb (James) of Maurice, and beloved pets, Blue and Kenzie; her grandchildren, Luke Pere’, Adilynn Donner, Eli Pere’, Aubrey Donner, and Ann-Marie Pere’; her siblings, Brunella Reed (Clyde) of Rayne and Larry May (Connie) of Duson; her nieces and nephews, Shannon May, godchild, (Jennifer); Alison Reed May (Benjamin); Nicole Reed Easterling, godchild, (Charles); Brady May (Crystal); and Spence Reed; her great nieces and nephews, Courtney Curtis, Nathan May, Megan Chaisson, Sage Reed, Landon Reed, Olivia May, and Reese Easterling; as well as her cousin, Bernita Hull. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Fontenot and Runie Vidrine Fontenot; her siblings, Hubert “Brud” Fontenot Jr. and Connie Fontenot May; her child, Jonathan Ponthier; as well as her cousins, Joel Sylvester Guillory and Lionel Fontenot. The family extends a special thanks to all of the professionals that were very kind and loving and took very good care of us at Lourdes Medical Center, especially Dr. Justin Ardoin and Dr. Moses Kitakule. Anthony Charpentier for being a dedicated friend to both Debra and Ronnie. You are appreciated for your understanding and explanations during this very difficult time. Brother Mike Madden for coming to meet us in the middle of the night when called and for contacting the HLC and PVG persons in New Orleans. Thanks to Brother Ed Fontenot and Brother Charles Bolden. And special thanks to coworkers at Chabills for comfort and understanding.
