Danna "Poncho" Ray Delahoussaye

Coteau - A Liturgy of the Word will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice for Danna “Poncho” Ray Delahoussaye, age 74, who passed away on Wednesday, December 25, 2024 in Lafayette. Deacon Cody Miller will officiate. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 from 10:00 AM until service time in the chapel of Cypress Funeral Home. A rosery will be prayed at 12:00 PM. Danna “Poncho” Ray Delahoussaye was born on October 1, 1950 in New Iberia and he was a resident of Youngsville. He worked in the oilfield for many years. Poncho was a big New Orleans Saints fan and really enjoyed watching football. Anyone who knew him knew that he loved watching his TV―it was his favorite pastime; though he also enjoyed fishing and making cypress clocks. Poncho recently lost his lifelong companion, his dachshund named Harley. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband to his wife, a great dad to his children, as well as an amazing grandfather to his grand and great grandkids, who will all miss him dearly. Poncho is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Nell Comeaux Delahoussaye; his children, Cory Delahoussaye (Dawn) of Coteau, Kandy Miller (Teddy) of Coteau, and Mandy LeBlanc (Travis) of Coteau; his grandchildren, Kartni Delahoussaye, Justin Delahoussaye, Lauren Martinez, Blake Romero, Taylor Broussard, Alyssa Miller, Dakotah Ransonet, Chelsea Chastant, and Caleb Romero; his great grandchildren, Kason, Kalem, Zayden, Vivian, Grace, and Grayson; as well as his brothers, Glen Delahoussaye (Liz) and Lynn Patrick Delahoussaye (Cathy). He was preceded in death by his parents, Irene and Ellis Delahoussaye Sr.; his brother, Ellis Delahoussaye Jr.; an infant sister; his in-laws, Robert Comeaux Sr. and Evola G Comeaux, and Isabelle “Bell” Comeaux; his brother-in-law, Ned Comeaux; as well as his great granddaughter, Dakota Marrie Delahoussaye. The family wishes to offer a special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Lafayette General’s ICU, especially Grant, Kammy, Dr. Perez, and Dr. Fashho for the care and compassion they offered Poncho and his family in their time of need. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W. Lafayette St., Maurice, LA 70555.
