Daniel "Danny" Morgan

Lafayette - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Danny Morgan, who departed this life on March 8th peacefully in his home in Lafayette, LA. He was born on June 11, 1963 on the North shore of the Western Gulf. Danny is survived by his favorite daughter, Catherine Brooke Morgan and favorite granddaughter, Melina Kate Morgan-Ma'aele; his mother, Alice Roth Morgan and siblings: Michael (Donna) Morgan, Marie Alyce Morgan, Anna Morgan, James W (Eilleen) Morgan, and Richard H. Morgan; his BLF (Best Life Friend), Laura Friedberg; his nieces and nephews: Jay Morgan, Christopher (Shanna) Morgan , James A. Wise, Danielle (Brian) Wise, Allen Cameron, Marguerite Cameron, Julia (Eduardo) Gallardo, Joe (Jec) Morgan, Annabella Morgan, Meghan Morgan, and James “Junior” Morgan; his former wife, Jan Morgan and niece Holly Maples; and last but not least, his 8.09 Billion cousins, some not so distant... Danny is preceded in death by his father, Alfred Harriman Morgan and his sister-in-law, Stacey Morgan. Danny graduated from Lafayette High, Class of 1981. Continuing his education, he earned his bachelors degree in psychology from BYU. He then attended LSU, earning his master’s degree in social work in 1990. Danny returned to BYU, completing all course work for his post grad degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. Danny was a self taught computer coder and programmer for the better part of the last 40 years; forever growing and using his knowledge in the 0 and 1’s world. Danny was compassionate and had a goal until the end to assist in creating an access to a better quality of life for his fellow humans. His legacy and goals will be continued through his daughter; CADScience. Danny spent his life creating, tinkering, and helping others, especially his family. Danny was a life designer, humanitarian, scientist, teacher, philosopher, naturalist, mathematician, computer wiz, handyman, and most recently (Aug 2024) an Urbit Hoon School graduate ~mosduc-nathut Danny was affectionately known as Daddy/Dad, (his favorite name) “Paw Paw”, Uncle Danny, Tio Paw Paw, Daniel My Brother, Muscle Man Dan, Dan the Man, Kangaroo Dan, Dapper D, Hoss Morgan, Danny Boy, and Woodstock Morgan X̶X̶. A memorial/celebration of life will be held on March 29th, 2025, at Cypress Funeral in Maurice Louisiana, Visitation 11:03 AM until the “prime” time of 12:23 PM for memorial service; followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to “MK’s (Melina) Future Fund” or a condolence/sympathy gift with a direct donation to Catherine and Melina. The family extends deep gratitude to: Danny’s caregivers- Shannon Billeaud and Kim Toranto, Hospice of Acadiana, and Food with Love. Danny will forever be our hero for not only his courage and perseverance in this life, but also his willingness to stand up for what he believed was right; as well as the way he handled, so gracefully, living his last years with ALS.
