Corlee Simon Guidry

Kaplan - Corlee Simon Guidry, a beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2025, at the age of 63, after a short illness in Lafayette, LA. Born October 11, 1961 in Port Sulphur and raised in Empire, Corlee attended Delta Heritage Academy. She lived a life filled with love, compassion, and quiet strength. Her greatest joy came from being with her family, and she embraced her role in each generation with devotion and grace. Corlee was the proud owner of The Cool Factory, where she served countless snowballs, ice cream, and sweet treats to her community. She also worked for Venture Transportation and Sew This! until her retirement. In her later years, she relocated to Kaplan to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren, who were the center of her world. She could cook like no other, had an unbeatable knack for random trivia, and her creativity shone through in every piece of art she made. If you were gifted one of her handmade creations, you knew it came from a place of deep love. Corlee was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Danny" Guidry; mother and step-father, Laura and Gerald Weatherly; father, Vernon Simon; daughter, Angela Gilbert; grandparents, Martin and Lillian Buras and Wilson and Olivia Simon; in-laws, Eve and Eric Guidry; brother-in-law, Richard Jones; sister-in-law, Lorraine Guidry; and brother-in-law, Ronald Erfle. She is survived by her daughter, Jamie Malley; stepdaughters, Rachel Guidry Tankersley and Rachelle Guidry Suir (Glenn Michael); sons-in-law, Eric Tankersley and Simon Sundy, Sr; brothers-in-law, Eric (Sharon) Guidry and Michael (Janice) Guidry; sisters-in-law, Mona Jones, Juliene Erfle, and Christine Guidry. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Simon (Keri) Sundy, Mikell Zuvich, Shawn (Emma) Sundy, Sydney (Malcolm) Caffery, Madison Gaskill, Calleigh Suir, Destiny and Daniel Tankersley. She was also blessed with two great-grandchildren, James Hebert and Gabriel Sundy. She had an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and life-long friends who will cherish memories and good times shared. We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the staffs of Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Lady of the Oaks Retirement Manor, and Hospice of Acadiana for their tremendous efforts and comfort. The family is also grateful to her friend Windy Jeffcoat for her care, unwavering support and compassion during this difficult time. A Celebration of Corlee’s life will be held privately for the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W. Lafayette St., Maurice, LA 70555.
