Chef Bobby Breaux

Abbeville – A Christian Funeral Service will be held on November 11, 2023 at Our Saviors Church in Abbeville honoring the life of Bobby Lynn Breaux, 71, who went to be home with the Lord, November 9, 2023. Pallbearers will be, Neil Frederick, Kelly Guidry, Chris Frederick, Eric Castro, Keith Frederick, Cloris Boudreaux, Adam Schexneider, Kade Boudreaux. Honorary pallbearers will be Lawrence Jones, Duane Frederick, Gerald Broussard, Conroy Vincent, Matthew Broussard, and Chris Mouton. Bobby exhibited a remarkable determination and an unparalleled work ethic that would become the hallmark of his life. That was evident from a young age. At just 13 years old, he had his first job shoveling rice at the Kaplan Rice Mill. Over the years, he took on a variety of roles, including working at a bakery alongside his sister, Jeannette Castro. Music was another passion that brought joy to Bobby's life. He was a multi-talented musician and singer, proficient in playing the trumpet, piano, and organ. From his junior year in high school through his early 20s, he lent his musical talents to three different bands, enriching the lives of those who had the privilege of hearing his music and listening to his singing. Bobby also enjoyed hunting and the great outdoors. Bobby graduated from Kaplan High School in 1970. At the age of 16, he found the love of his life, and in 1972, they embarked on a lifelong journey together through marriage. Seven years after being married they had their first daughter. And 22 months later, they had another. Bobby's incredible journey through life would not have been possible without the unwavering support and dedication of his beloved wife, who stood as the phenomenal backbone of all his success. She was not only a partner but also a pillar of strength who helped make all his achievements possible. Her admiration for him was a constant source of motivation and encouragement to him. Throughout his life, Bobby wore many hats, including those of a rice, soybean, and crawfish farmer. However, in 1984, he faced a devastating setback when he lost all his crops. It was a challenging time, one that could have broken the spirit of many. But Bobby was made of sterner stuff. In the face of adversity, he made a bold decision to switch careers and pursue his passion for the culinary arts. This remarkable transformation demonstrated his resilience, adaptability, and unyielding spirit. After graduating culinary school, Bobby opened his own catering business called, “Chef Bobby & Dot’s Catering.” Chef Bobby grew up immersed in the rich and vibrant culture of Cajun cooking, and it was in this world that he found his true calling. His love for the flavors, traditions, and spices of Louisiana was evident in every dish he created. With unwavering dedication and a strong work ethic, Chef Bobby rose to prominence in the catering industry, earning accolades and the deep respect of fellow chefs and food enthusiasts. His hard work was evident in every dish he prepared, whether it was a steaming pot of seafood gumbo, a plate of perfectly seasoned jambalaya, or his famous crawfish étouffée. The flavors he created were a testament to his unwavering commitment to quality and authenticity. However, it was not only Chef Bobby's talents in the kitchen that defined him; it was his profound sense of community and commitment to giving back. He took great pride in supporting the people of his beloved town and beyond. His kitchen was a hub of warmth and generosity, where delicious creations were not just food; they were expressions of love that brought people together. He greeted every client with a smile, taking time to share stories and make each one feel like part of the family. Chef Bobby leaves behind a legacy of culinary excellence, community spirit, and a dedication to his craft that inspired all who had the privilege of savoring his creations. He was known and loved by everyone as "Chef Bobby," a name that will forever evoke memories of mouthwatering dishes and a generous heart. He is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Dorothy (Dot) S. Breaux; his daughters, Skyla Boudreaux and her partner, Chris Mouton, Trisha Jones and her husband, Lawrence; his grandchildren, Kade Boudreaux, Isabella Jones, Karter Boudreaux, Gabriella Jones, BJ Boudreaux; his sisters, Betty Frederick, and Joyce Guidry and her husband Pervis, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great - great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton Breaux, and the former Gladys Melancon; two sisters, Ruby Boudreaux, and Jeannette Castro; his nephew Jed Boudreaux and great nephew Hunter Boudreaux. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Community Hospice. He received compassionate care from Karen Stelly, Clarrissa Starland and the entire staff. The family request visiting hours be observed at Our Saviors Church Abbeville on November 11, 2023 at 901 Robert Wells Drive, on Saturday, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
