Charles Edward Wallace

Lafayette - Charles (Charlie) Wallace, 73, of Lafayette, LA passed away on June 19, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. He was born October 13, 1949, in White Castle, LA, the son of the late Jerry Dawson Wallace and Ruth Cancienne Wallace. On August 13, 1977, he married the love of his life Melanie Wallace who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his 4 siblings and their spouses: Steve Wallace and wife Lisa Wallace, Jim Wallace and wife Melody Wallace, Katherine (Kathy) Wallace Johnsen and husband Andy Johnsen, and Jeff Wallace and his wife Connie Wallace. Charlie served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 – 1973, stationed in Altus, OK as an Avionics Technician. He was employed with Bell South for 32 years as a Cable Repair Technician and retired in 2005. Charlie was an active member of the American Legion, Post 69, who volunteered for various projects and events. Throughout his life, Charlie had many various hobbies that included drag racing his Camero, photography, cooking Cajun dishes, spending time with family and friends, as well as his love for watching wrestling. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Nicole Wallace Trillo and Che Trillo of El Paso, TX; son, Phillip White of Greensboro, NC; grandchildren, Elias Trillo, Cora Trillo, Shannon Bryant, Sydney White, 16 nieces and nephews, and 14 great-nieces and nephews. Special thanks to his amazing and compassionate physicians, Dr. Elias Moussaly (Oncology Specialist at Our Lady of Lourdes JD Moncus Cancer Center in Lafayette, LA), Dr. Waleed Zaid (Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Specialist in Baton Rouge, LA), and the wonderful Nursing staff from Our Lady of Lourdes in Lafayette, LA. A Celebration of Life Service will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Miles Perret Cancer Services at milesperret.org.
