Charles E. Deshotels

Lafayette - A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice for Charles E. Deshotels, age 81, who passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021 in Lafayette, Louisiana. Deacon Keith Duhon of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milton will Officiate. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 29, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM in the Cypress Chapel. Charles Ernest Deshotels was born on January 28, 1940 in Kaplan, Louisiana. He was a resident of Lafayette for the last 51 years. After high school Charles went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Army. He had a love of flying and a great interest in Military History during World War II. His time spent in the Army, where he was stationed on the Berlin Wall during the Berlin Crisis, solidified his fascination with world history and military endeavors. He was an avid reader and enjoyed watching the local wildlife in his backyard. His true joy was spending time with his two grandsons. He will be dearly missed by his friends and family. Charles is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia Simon Deshotels; his children, Jason Jules Deshotels (Cindy Biggs Deshotels), and Kristy Deshotels-Dye (Jon Jeremy Dye); his grandchildren, Hudson Jake Dye and Shepard Jude Dye; his brother, Michael Deshotels (Peggy Dubois Deshotels); his nephews, Jonathan Deshotels (Valerie), Jacques Deshotels, Andre Deshotels, and Seth Deshotels (Lauren); as well as his great nieces and nephews, Lydia, Jules, Estelle, Vivian and Cole. He was preceded in death by his parents, Col. Jules Deshotels and Mrs. Virginia Cole Deshotels; brother Robert “Bobby” Jules Deshotels; and brother William “Bill” Thomas Deshotels. Private Internment will be held at a later date where Charles will be laid to rest with his family in the Holy Rosary Cemetery in Kaplan, Louisiana.
