Maurice - A Mass will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 1:00 PM in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice, for Carolyn B. Romero, 57, who passed away on Thursday, March 4, 2021 surrounded by her family, following a lengthy illness. Visitation will be observed on Saturday, March 13, 2021 from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Maurice. A Rosary will be recited on Saturday, March 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM during the visitation. Reverend Paul Bienvenu, Pastor of St. Alphonsus in Maurice, will officiate the funeral service. Carolyn Broussard Romero was born on March 8, 1963 in Port Arthur, and was a resident of Maurice. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and Grammy. She loved her three children and grandson more than anything. She retired from the Vermilion Parish School Board after 22 years. She worked as the secretary at Cecil Picard Elementary and was often referred to as the sweet lady in the front office and she was just that; one of the sweetest, kindest, and most selfless women you would have ever met. She enjoyed her days of retirement watching her favorite soaps, doing crossword puzzles and spoiling and caring for all of her puppies! She will be fondly remembered and missed tremendously by her family and friends. Carolyn is survived by her husband of 39 years, Karl Romero; her children, Lance Romero (Casie) of Pine Prairie, Nicholas Romero of Maurice, and Katelyn Romero of Maurice; her grandchild, Wesley Romero of Pine Prairie; her siblings, Donna Veselka (James) of Maurice, Cynthia Comeaux (Larry) of Lafayette, Patricia Thibodeaux of Lafayette, and Kenneth Broussard (Jill) of Maurice; along with a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley Broussard and Mary Elgine Broussard; her sister, Cathy Walker; and her paternal and maternal grandparents. A heartfelt appreciation is extended by the Romero family to Dr. Bradley Dowden, and the 6th Floor of Lafayette General Southwest - Louisiana Extended Care Hospital along with their nurses and staff for their kindness and compassion given to Carolyn and her family during their time of need.
