Ville Platte - Byron Emile Buller, age 59, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 26,2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. Byron was born on June 20, 1967 in Ville Platte, where he was a lifelong resident. Byron lived a life marked by both hardship and redemption. He faced many personal struggles over the years, and those challenges often created distance. Yet his story did not end there. In recent years, he worked hard to rebuild his life, finding renewed purpose, healing, and hope. Above all, he loved his children with all his heart. They remained a constant source of pride and motivation throughout his life. Even while battling cancer, one of his greatest joys was sharing one more hunt with his son—a memory that will be forever cherish. As a younger man, he found peace in the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. In his later years, he loved cooking, taking pleasure in preparing meals. He was known for his generous heart, always willing to help someone in need despite his own challenges. Perhaps the greatest transformation in his life came during his final year, when he drew close to the Lord. His faith became a source of strength, comfort, and peace as he faced his illness with courage. Those who knew him witnessed a man whose heart had been softened by grace and whose hope rested in God’s promises. While his path was not always easy, his life is a reminder that no one is beyond redemption. His family finds comfort in remembering not only the struggles he endured but the faith he embraced, the love he gave, and the man he became. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 “His story was not one of perfection, but of redemption—a life that, in the end, reflected God’s grace more than his past. He is survived by his children, Monique B. Hebert, April R. Fontenot, Elizabeth B. Champagne, and Samuel P. Buller; his six grandchildren; his siblings, Lucas (Kelli), Philip, and Lorraine (Joe); as well as his seven nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Larry Buller and Mattie Buller. Arrangements have been entrusted to Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W. Lafayette St., Maurice, LA 70555.
