Lafayette - A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026 at 1:00 PM in the chapel of Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice for Bren Justin Duplantis , age 44, who passed away on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 in Broussard. Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 10:00 AM until service time at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice. Bren never met a person who he couldn’t befriend, no matter their situation, baggage, or uniqueness. He had a special power of making people feel right at home, often offering his parent’s house as their new home. He made everyone around him feel loved and wanted. A gifted athlete and lifelong sports fan, Bren brought the same passion and competitive spirit to the games he played as he did to the teams he faithfully supported. He had the admiration of many, young and old, for his enthusiasm on the field or court. Bren’s greatest joy was being a father. His children were the center of his world and his proudest accomplishments. His love and endearment for Gracyn and Leyton lives on beyond his time on Earth. Though his time with us was too short, Bren leaves behind a legacy of love, compassion, resilience, and unforgettable memories. Above all, he will be remembered for the deep and abiding love he had for his children. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love him. Bren in survived by his children, Gracyn Duplantis and Leyton Duplantis; his mother and stepfather, Lyn Pritchard Gudenrath and Barry Gudenrath; his siblings, Steven Duplantis, Jami Gomez (Chris), Jacob Duplantis (Ciera), and Victoria Lazzaro (Nic); his grandparents, Rebecca Duplantis, Harold and Jean Ellen Pritchard and Connie Gudenrath; as well as numerous nieces, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Brian Duplantis; his brother, Eric Delcambre; as well as his grandfather, John Duplantis.
