Stephen Fitch

Abbeville - A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at 3:00 pm at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice for Stephen Fitch, age 40, who passed away peacefully at The Calcutta House on Thursday, August 24, 2023, in Lafayette. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2023, from 12:00 pm until service time at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice. Jon Robertson will officiate. Stephen Ashley Fitch was born on August 20, 1983, in Houma and he was a lifelong resident of Acadiana. He was a music enthusiast and loved to play guitar and listen to live bands. Stephen appreciated being in any social setting because he enjoyed meeting new people and visiting with friends. He was definitely a people person. Going to the gym to workout was a passion of Stephen. He loved sports, especially football and the New Orleans Saints. Stephen was born with Cystic Fibrosis and in 2019 received a double lung transplant and had a new lease on life. He was able to enjoy things that he's never experienced before. Stephen will be dearly missed. Stephen is survived by his loving wife of nine years, Amanda Fitch; his two step-daughters that he loved and considered his own, Jeanne Marie Fletcher and Audrey Grace Fletcher; his parents, Tony and Christine Fitch; his two siblings, Brandon Michael Fitch and his wife, Tammy and Ryan James Fitch and his wife, Ambrosia; his niece, Magnolia Grace Fitch; his nephew, Greyson James Fitch; along with a host of dear friends. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles “Autry” Fitch and Marylin Fitch; as well as his maternal grandfather, Ronald Moody. The family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at The Calcutta House and his transplant teams at Ochsner and in New York for the care and compassion they offered Stephen and his family during his time of need. A very special thank you to his organ donor and their family for giving Stephen an extra four years of life.
