James Alexander Rush

Lafayette- A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Milton for James Alexander “Jimmy” Rush, 58, who passed away on December 3, 2020. Father William Schambough will be the Celebrant of the Mass. Internment will take place at Holy Mary Mother of God Cemetery in Lafayette. Jimmy was born in Lafayette on November 29, 1962 to Warren and Jeanette (Barras) Rush. Jimmy was a graduate of Lafayette High School. He attended Prep school at Oxford Academy in Westbrook, Connecticut, obtained his BA from University of Louisiana and a Master’s Degree in Restaurant and Hotel Management from Mississippi State University. He also attended summer school in Austria at the University of Innsbrook. After a career in hotel management, he enjoyed a successful career in real estate. Jimmy never met a stranger and loved talking with people and sharing stories and laughing with family and friends. Jimmy had a kind heart, a sweet soul and a generous spirit. He loved his children above all else and was a very loving and caring father. Olivia and Graham will always cherish the memories of the many trips and experiences that Jimmy brought them on, the beautiful magnolia flowers he picked especially for Olivia and the gardening and cooking time they all shared together. Jimmy had an unwavering faith and trust in God and always wore his cross and scapular. He will be greatly missed by all and always remembered for his heart of gold. Jimmy is survived by his children, Olivia Estelle Rush and Graham Alexander Rush, his siblings Charles M. Rush (Carla), Gina Rush Calogero (David), Mary Jeanette Rush Alford (David), Robert Lawrence Rush (Dana) and neices and nephews, Jon Tyler Rush (Caroline), Nicholas Charles Rush, Matthew Alexander Rush, Joshua Deason Rush, David Alexander Calogero (Gabrielle), Andrew Warren Calogero, Eric Anderson Alford, Patrick Rush Alford and Allison Jeanette Alford, and the mother of his children Kourtney Boudreaux Rush. He was preceeded in death by his father, Warren Deason "Pete" Rush.
