Maurice - A Liturgy of the Word service will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice for James Paul Landry, age 93, who passed away peaceafully on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at his residence. Deacon Cody Miller will officiate the service. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Cypress Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 11:00 AM. James Paul Landry was born on November 24, 1930, in Lafayette, Louisiana. He is a Veteran of the United States Army having faithfully served his country during the Korean War. After his time in the service James returned home and began working in the Oilfield, where he went on to become a board road foreman. Away from work his true passion was his horses. He loved riding horses and he also trained horses for many years. His pastimes included carpetntry and wood working. More than anything James was a loving father and grandfather, and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends. James is survived by his children, Robert Landry (Brenda) of Duson; Mona Bergeaux (Ricky) of Lafayette, Leo Landry (Sharon) of Fort Worth Texas, Laura Olson (Thomas) of Lafayette, Helen Montet (Ralph) of Maurice, and Carolyn Scott (Mathew) of Lafayette; his 20 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; along with a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death his loving wife of 66 years, Eula Mae Boone Landry; his parents, Leopold Landry, and Elia Landry Domingue; his grandsons, Skip Charles Montet, and Ralph "Marshall" Montet; his sisters, Lilly Simon, and Gerald McDonald; as well as his his brothers, Frank Landry, and Dave Landry. Serving as pallbearers: Coty Bergeaux, Chip Bergeaux, Christopher Scott, Randy Montet, Joshua Olson, and Christopher Bergeaux. Honorary pallbearer: Heath Olson. Commital service with Military Honors will be held in Lafayette Memorial Park Cemetery in Lafayette, Louisiana.
