Lafayette - Jacques “Jack” Baumhauer Houston, Jr., age 76, who passed away peacefully at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center on Wednesday, September 14, 2022, in Lafayette, LA. Jacques “Jack” Baumhauer Houston, Jr. was born on March 12, 1946, in Mobile, AL and he was a longtime resident of Acadiana. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. Jack graduated from Broadmoor High School then later from Louisiana State University (LSU). He was an avid New Orleans Saints and LSU Tigers football fan. Jack loved the outdoors and spent a great deal of time working in his yard continuously improving the landscaping. His other favorite outdoor past times were fishing and camping. In addition, Jack loved to travel, dance, and play cards. He adored his pets. As a younger man Jack lived and traveled overseas. Into his adult years, he enjoyed visiting the mountains and going on cruises as well as other outdoor activities. Jack was famous for his grilling skills. If you were one of the lucky ones, he probably cooked you a very rare steak at least once! A true example of a “Jack of all trades” Jack could do just about anything. One of his most impressive talents was his impeccable management skills and ability to drive success in the retail industry. Jack will be dearly missed. Jack is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Catherine “Cathy” Houston; his four children; Holly Houston Paline (Danny), Heidi Houston Pharis, Brandon McDuffie, and Jacques Houston, III (Rebecca); his six grandchildren, Jordan Paline, Breland Paline, Logan Paline, Sebastian Pharis, Nathaniel Pharis, and Callum (CJ) Pharis; his brother, Tom Houston (Catheryne); his father’s wife, Joan Ward Houston; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacques “Jack”, Sr. and Lorraine Hamilton Houston; his sister, Victoria Smith; and his mother-in-law, Gloria Dean Guilbeau McDuffie. A gathering to celebrate his life will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the family to assist with medical bills and funeral expenses.
