Harvey C. Broussard

Lafayette - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 11:00 am in St. Edmond Catholic Church in Lafayette for Lt. Colonel (Retired USAF) Harvey C. Broussard, age 85, who passed away peacefully with his family by his side at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 in Lafayette after a lengthy illness as a patient at Heart Hospital and AMG Specialty Hospital. Harvey was a loving husband, father, grandfather and step-grandfather, born in Lafayette, LA on October 9, 1937 to Walter and Hilda Broussard. He was a 1955 graduate of Cathedral High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from SLI (now ULL) in 1959. Having participated in the ROTC program at SLI, Harvey entered the Air Force as 2nd Lieutenant and received numerous military honors during his 22 1/2 years of service to our country culminating in the rank of Lt Colonel. Harvey’s Air Force career took him to bases around the globe including Vietnam in 1965, Germany, England and various stations in the U.S with many years spent in San Antonio, TX with his family. Lafayette has been his home for the last 20 years. Harvey played basketball in high school and summer league baseball with the Lafayette Shell Royals. He loved boating and fishing at Lake LBJ, bowling and was a fabulous dancer. He was an avid golfer landing 3 holes in one during his playing years. He and his wife Fay loved traveling and visiting casinos where he was equally as lucky as on the course. He is survived by his loving wife L. Fay B. Broussard and his children Gay B. Wintersole (Mark) of San Antonio, TX, Neil (Kristi) of Dallas, TX, step-children Damian Dartez (Amy) and Deidre D. Arceneaux (Robbie) of Prairieville, Duane Dartez (Liz) and Darrin Dartez (Tobie) of Abbeville. Grandchildren Benjamin, Harper and Camden Broussard and step-grandchildren Alexander, Anna, Mattie, Addisyn, Cameron, Saul and Jonathan Dartez, Gabriel, Aaron, and Olivia Arceneaux, Lauren D. Campbell (Josh) and step-great granddaughter due in October, Lucy Raye Campbell. Sister Phyllis B. Hale (Desmond) and brother Tommy Broussard and many nieces and nephews. Harvey was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Hilda C. Broussard, sister-in-law Carolyn ‘Cookie’ Broussard, and in laws Percy and Neola A. Broussard. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorial donations to be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and Wounded Warrior Project. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, from 8:30 am until service time in St. Edmond Catholic Church in Lafayette. Father Joe Campion will officiate. A Rosary will be recited by the St. Edmond Altar Society on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 10:00 am in St. Edmond Catholic Church. Interment will take place in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery in Maurice immediately following the service. Cypress Funeral Home & Crematory, 206 W.
