Gage Shawn Hanks

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 5:00 PM in the Chapel of Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice for Gage Shawn Hanks, 22, of Lafayette, Louisiana passed away on Monday, February 12th after a tragic accident. Pastor Ryan Johnson of Our Savior's Church in Abbeville will officiate. Visitation will be observed at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, from 2:00 PM until time of services. A celebration of life will follow at the Parham residence. Gage was born on February 6, 2002, to Kevin and Stephanie Hanks. Gage was a special soul. He had the most beautiful smile and never ended a conversation without saying “I Love You”. He was so proud that he had the best hair in the family! Being the oldest grandchild had its perks. Gage took his role seriously and loved his younger cousins. Gage had a special bond with his Nanny Sheri. They understood each other and he knew that she would always be there for him. Gage loved his little sister more than anything. She had big plans for their future and all the things she knew he could achieve. She is left with precious memories of the time they had together. Gage spent most of his time with his loyal dog, King, who was with him every day. Gage enjoyed staying busy with different tasks. He helped his Pop with many projects around the shop to keep him busy. He also enjoyed singing. His favorite song to sing was the classic Elvis song, “Can’t Help Falling In Love”. He would sing that from a young age to his Mimi and that tradition continued into adulthood. Gage was preceded in death by his Great-Grandparents, Lewis and Ginger Kellogg, Great Aunts Deborah Kellogg and Sheila Guidry, Great Uncles, Dirk Kellogg and Drake Talbot, his grandparents Barton and Kathy Hanks, and his uncle Jared Hanks. Gage is survived by his parents, his sister, Paige Sarah Hanks, his grandparents, Dennis Talbot (Vicki), Dru Talbot and Johnny and Kathy Dauphin, his Nanny, Sheri Talbot (Joseph), Aunts, Staci Talbot (Phil), Sarah Talbot Parham (Kristopher), Danielle Talbot (David), Jennifer Couvillion (Bart), Felicia Louviere (Johnathon), and one uncle, Davin Hanks, his first cousins Matthew Dehart, Kinsley, Anah and Kohen Parham, Lane Leblanc, Joseph Theo Ursone, Branson, Weston, and Kolston Couvillion, and Brenton and Milah Louviere and his mentor Charles Songy.
