Youngsville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 1:00 pm in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Milton for Dorothy B. Decou, age 92, who passed away peacefully on Monday, July 15, 2024, in Lafayette. Father William Schambough of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Milton will officiate. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, from 9:00 am until time of service at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice. A Rosary will be recited by Deacon Cody Miller on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at 11:00 am at Cypress Funeral Home in Maurice. Dorothy B. Decou was born on December 6, 1931, in Vermilion Parish and she was a lifelong resident of Youngsville. She was a farmer’s wife. Dorothy loved to cook and stay in her yard planting and taking care of her flowers. She also loved and took care of small children in her home. Dorothy was a wonderful seamstress! She took a lot of pride in her work and in anything she did! Dorothy will be dearly missed. Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Sharon D. Racca and her husband, Keith Racca of Youngsville; her grandchildren, Lacey Racca, and Tessie R. Carter and her husband, Kyle Carter of Youngsville; as well as her great-grandchildren, Paislee Carter and Parker Carter. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Curtis J. Decou; her parents, Clifton & Lorena Owens Broussard; as well as her brothers, Clifford “Bud” Broussard and Sostane Broussard. Pallbearers will be Glynn Decou, Huey “Brother” Decou, Paul Decou, Jr., Ronnie Decou, Sr., Kieron Jambon, Brock Simon, and Al Collins. Honorary pallbearer will be Robert “Bobby” Broussard and Felix Sellers. Interment will take place in the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Milton. The family wishes to offer a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Brookdale Assisted Living; Cornerstone at The Ranch and her family relative Lou Lou Broussard; Traditions Hospice, especially her nurse Julie; Deborah Murphy her home health agent; as well as her beloved neighbors, Candi Nelson and Tina Sparks for the care and compassion they offered Dorothy and her family during their time of need.
